Y siop — the shop

A small workshop shop.

A short shelf of things made or gathered at the bench — strings, spares, and gift vouchers. Commissions remain the main work; this is only a modest side to it.

  • Coiled gut strings on linen

Gut string set — lever harp

A full replacement set of natural gut strings for a thirty-four-string lever harp. Hand-selected and paired at the workshop.

  • Small wooden bridges arranged on wood

    Spare bridge set

A small envelope of spare wooden bridges, cut and fitted at the workshop, for lever and pedal harps.

  • A horsehair crwth bow beside its instrument

    Crwth bow

A traditional crwth bow, horsehair and hardwood, shaped and haired at the bench. Made in small numbers.

  • A luthier's hands at the workbench

    Gift voucher

A handwritten voucher, redeemable against any commission, accessory, or set of strings from the workshop.

There is no till on the site yet, and that suits the bench well enough. Each item opens a short enquiry email, and Richard will reply himself with price, postage, and whether it is in stock — usually the same day.

Y siop fach — the little shop

Small things, made well.

This is a modest shelf, and it is meant to be. The real work of the bench is the instruments themselves; what you find here are the things that keep them singing — gut strings cut and gauged for harp and crwth, spare bridges, a horsehair bow, the odd tool or fitting made in a quiet hour. Nothing mass-made. Nothing you could not ask Richard about directly.

The gift vouchers are for those who want to put a real instrument, one day, into the hands of someone they love — a deposit against a commission, or simply a beginning. Write, and Richard will explain how they work and what they might become.
